CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston equestrian team prepares for its second competition of the spring season as Wofford hosts its first-ever IHSA Zone 5 Region 3 Show on Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE) in Tryon, N.C.
The equestrians competing for the Cougars will be junior Jenna McIntosh and sophomores Alyson Bushey and Caroline McCully in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter.
"This is Wofford's first IHSA show and we're excited to go to a different venue and ride totally different horses," CofC Head Coach Bob Story said. "The team has had three weeks of strong practices since Georgia Southern, and hopefully, that will pay off in the results."
Novice Flat will feature sophomores Molly Coyle and Stephanie Hustad along with freshmen Arianna Cacioppo and Allyson Pace. CofC riders in Novice Fences will be junior Sammie Barton and freshman Makenna Grierson. Barton will also show in Intermediate Flat with freshman Olivia Moriarty.
Junior Sophia Meserve and sophomore Olivia Baldwin will compete in Intermediate Fences. Senior Annie Kuniansky, junior Shannon Rice and sophomore Dorian Cieslak will show in Open Flat. Seniors Rio Parker and Hannah Showell will round out the field in Open Fences.
CofC holds a 25-point lead in the IHSA Zone 5 Region 3 standings with two shows remaining in the season including its final regular-season home show on March 3 at Storybook Farm on Johns Island, S.C.
