CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's golf team heads out west to the desert for the two-day Loyola Intercollegiate hosted by Loyola Maryland on Feb. 25-26 at the par-72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
The 19-team tournament field consists of Air Force, Army West Point, CofC, Connecticut, DePaul, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Gonzaga, Hartford, Loyola, Missouri State, Murray State, Seton Hall, Siena, SIU-Edwardsville, St. John's, Towson, UT-Martin and Xavier.
"It was a short week and I know the team was not happy with their play in Florida last week," CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "We are a team that is still trying to find out who we are, but I still think this team can be really good."
Starting the weekend for the Cougars will be sophomore Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.), sophomore Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.), sophomore Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.), sophomore Colin Hamilton (Southlake, Texas), a transfer from Oklahoma State, and freshman Reed Bentley (Spartanburg, S.C.).
"We made a lineup change this week and are able to have Colin Hamilton join us," McEntire said. "He will give us some experience and look forward to seeing how he plays as a Cougar."
Thirty-six holes will be played on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday. Both days will be a 7:45 a.m. (MT) / 9:45 a.m. (ET) shotgun start.
The Cougars will be paired with Eastern Michigan, UConn and Missouri State in the opening round. Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
