CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (6-22, 2-15) went down early and couldn't recover on Sunday's Senior Day matchup with Northeastern (15-13, 10-7), falling to the Huskies 67-48.
• Tanisha Brown made the most of her senior day outing, shooting 8 of 16 from the field to score 16 points. Brown also pulled down six rebounds and three assists, which brought her season total to 233, cracking the CofC Division I Era Top 10 list. It passes her junior year total of 228, which is tied for the ninth-best rebounding season for CofC. Brown was one of three seniors being honored Sunday, a group that included Shiclasia Brown and Bri Boyd as well.
• Though the Cougars played the Huskies to two close quarters in the second half, it wasn't able to offset Northeastern's 37-19 lead that they had established by halftime. Gabby Giacone had a big individual game for NU, scoring a career high 24 points while adding nine boards, four assists, two blocks and two steals.
• The Cougars remain a game and a half back of UNCW and the ninth seed with the loss. Northeastern meanwhile moves into a tie for fourth with Delaware, who were defeated on the road at James Madison today.
The College wraps up the regular season on Saturday, when they visit the Drexel Dragons.
