Women's Hoops Wraps Regular Season at Drexel
3/2/2018 6:17:00 PM | Women's Basketball
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (6-22, 2-15) plays its regular season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Drexel (23-6, 15-2).
The Cougars' post-season fate will ultimately be outside of their control when they play the Dragons. While their seeding is already determined, their CAA Tournament first round opponent will be decided elsewhere. CofC can wind up playing either Hofstra, Towson or UNCW in that game.
Drexel meanwhile will have quite a bit at stake against the Cougars, as a victory would virtually clinch a top seed billing for them, making their hosting duties for the tournament all the sweeter.
CofC's last victory came on the road at UNCW in early February when Tanisha Brown's near triple-double helped propel the Cougars to the 72-63 win. The College is 3-6 all-time against the Dragons, but has yet to win at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The Dragons responded to a 12-point road loss to Elon on Feb. 9 by peeling off five straight wins leading into Saturday's season finale, which included a double overtime 73-71 thriller against James Madison with whom they are currently tied in the standings. While Kelsi Lidge leads the team in scoring, rebounding and steals, Aubree Brown will be the player the Cougars need to key on, as the sophomore guard notched her first career triple-double in her previous encounter with CofC.
