CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's golf team will conclude its 2017-18 regular season at The Stitch Intercollegiate Classic on April 13-15 at the par-72 MacGregor Downs Country Club in Raleigh, N.C.
The Cougars are one of 12 teams from around the country participating in this week's tournament along with No. 36-ranked NC State, No. 27 Duke, No. 26 Wake Forest, Maryland, Richmond, UAB, Campbell, Appalachian State, Ohio, East Carolina and Virginia Tech.
MacGregor Downs, which will play at a distance of 6,973 yards, has a rich golf tradition with numerous collegiate events that included players such as PGA TOUR professionals Adam Scott, Bill Haas, David Duval, Phil Mickelson and Jonas Blixt.
CofC looks to build momentum to defend its title at next week's Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship with the starting lineup of sophomore Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.), sophomore Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.), sophomore Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.), sophomore Colin Hamilton (Southlake, Texas) and freshman Reed Bentley (Spartanburg, S.C.).
Dunagan was the Cougars' top finisher at the team's last tournament – The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate – tying for 19th and shooting a final-round 68. He currently leads the team with a 71.54 stroke average.
"We look forward to getting our guys back in action this week," CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "We are looking to use this as a nice warm-up for the CAA Championship next week in Raleigh. We have played a solid fall, but have yet to have everyone click at the same time. I hope that it all comes together over the next two weeks for us."
Each 18-hole round on Friday through Saturday will begin at 8:30 a.m. (ET) with split tee times off the No. 1 and No. 10. The Cougars will be paired with Wake Forest and UAB in the opening round and tee off the No. 10 tomorrow beginning at 9:40 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
