Cougars Close Out Regular Season at Duke Invite

DURHAM, N.C. – The College of Charleston track & field program wrapped up its regular season over the weekend with a few more big personal bests at the Duke Invitational.
The freshman distance tandem of Tess Masselink and Cate Ambrose each had a big day in the 1500m run. Masselink chopped three seconds off of her PR by taking 31stwith a time of 4:38.61, which bumped her up three spots on the CofC Top 10 Performance List to No. 3. Ambrose finished right behind her, and established a PR of her own (4:38.81).
Elsewhere on the track, Holly Driver finished just outside of scoring position in the 400m hurdles, but established a PR once again with her time of 1:02.60. Kayla Ennis finished in 21st (1:05.02), and shaved over a second off of her previous best to move up to No. 6 on the CofC performance list. Marissa Linkous once again paced the Cougars in the sprints with times of 12.36 (100m), 25.74 (200m) and 57.92 (400m).
Nicole Lane finished in scoring range with her fourth place heave of 41.79m in the javelin throw, and came within 6cm of surpassing Christine Klinar's school record set back in 2013. Elsewhere in the throws, Simone Harris posted distances of 12.86m (shot put), 44.61 (hammer), and 43.33m (discus) to lead the team.
On the men's side, Crew Kosiorek posted a sub-four minute 1500m time of 3:59.21 in his collegiate finale, while freshman Declan Hines finished second overall in the 5000m run with his time of 14:52.32.
The Cougars now set their sites on the postseason, with the CAA Championships at William & Mary beginning on May 4.
