CAA Championships in Williamsburg Awaits for CofC Track & Field
5/3/2018 2:15:00 PM | Women's Track & Field
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston track & field team heads to Williamsburg, Va. this weekend to test their mettle in the CAA Championships, hosted by the College of William & Mary at Zable Stadium.
The CAA Championships return to William & Mary for the first time since 2015, having been hosted by Elon and Delaware over the past two seasons. The Cougars however visited Zable Stadium just last year at the 2017 Colonial Relays, where Julisa Tindall pulled off a season-best height of 1.75m to win the high jump outright.
The Cougars enter this weekend's meet with several chances to put points on the board, most prominently in the jumps and javelin throw. Stephanie Laudien's season best leap of 11.75m in the triple jump currently ranks third in the CAA, while Leona Burton Rojas' jump of 5.80m ranks her fourth in the long jump.
In the javelin, both Nicole Lane and Jenny Martin boast personal bests in excess of 40.5m, making both contenders in the event. In addition, while she hasn't yet run the event yet this year, Martin is a reigning All-Conference honoree in the heptathlon after finishing third in 2017 and breaking the CofC school record with her score of 4553 points.
The meet will run two days spanning Friday and Saturday. On day one, the javelin throw opens things up at 9:30 a.m., and things conclude when the 10000m run wraps up just after 7 p.m. On Saturday, the shot put and the heptathlon long jump open things up at 10 a.m., and the meet concludes at 4:30 p.m. following the 4x400m relay.
Live results for the entire meet will be made available courtesy of Half Mile Timing.
