
Martin Takes Fourth in Pentathlon at Carolina Challenge

Carolina Challenge Pentathlon Results
Columbia, S.C. – College of Charleston senior Jenny Martin set a PR in the pentathlon with 3,162 points to take fourth place in a field of 16 athletes at the Carolina Challenge on Thursday in Columbia.
Martin finished in the top four in three of the five events and set three pentathlon PRs to eclipse her previous best total of 3,119. She was first and set a PR in the shot put with a throw of 10.54 meters (34 feet, 7 inches) and was fourth in the 60 hurdles (9.17) and 800 meters (2:42.15). Her mark in the hurdles set a PR at that distance.
Martin also established a new PR in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.52 meters (4-11 ¾) to move into a tie for tenth in Cougar history, and was seventh in the long jump with a top mark of 4.89 meters (16-0 ½).
The Cougar track and field team is in action Friday and Saturday at the Camel City Classic at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. The indoor season wraps up February 16 at the USC Open.
