Top-10 Finish For Sowell, Cougars at Crooked Stick Invitational

CARMEL, Ind. – In a tournament field heavily comprised of SEC and Big Ten Conference schools, College of Charleston senior Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.) and the men's golf team each turned in a Top-10 finish on Tuesday at the Crooked Stick Invitational co-hosted by Purdue and Indiana at the Crooked Stick Golf Club.

Sowell carded rounds of 74, 71 and 74 and finished in a three-way tie for 10th with Joe Weiler of Purdue and Jonathan Brightwell of UNCG at 3-over par for the tournament. It marked his 10th Top-10 finish of his career.

Senior Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.) tied for 19th (+6) with Jerry Li of Illinois.

Georgia won the team title with a three-round score of 867 (+3) followed by runner-up Vanderbilt (+4). Northwestern and Marquette tied for third (+15), Ohio State was fifth (+17), Purdue sixth (+23), Illinois seventh (+24), Indiana eighth (+33) and Charleston ninth (+34). CofC beat Michigan, Kentucky and Cincinnati.

The Cougars will close out the fall season with the East Bay Deli Classic hosted by Charleston Southern on Nov. 3-5 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Turtle Point course on Kiawah Island, S.C.
