VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Senior Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) carded a first-round, 1-under par 69 as the College of Charleston women's golf team sits in a tie for fourth after the opening round of the Princess Anne Invitational held on Friday at the Princess Anne Country Club.
Huskey birded the 4th, 9th and 13th holes and is currently tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard. She is four strokes back of current leader Esme Hamilton of Chattanooga (-5).
Junior Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.) and freshman Emily Dunlap (Greenville, S.C.) both shot a 2-over 72 and are tied for 25th in the 82-player tournament field.
"We played well today, but did not make enough putts to make a run at the first-round lead," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "Everyone's game looked good today. If a few more putts fall, it should be a good weekend."
After Day One, the Cougars are currently tied with UCF at 6-over par, while Virginia Tech sits atop the leaderboard at 4-under. LSU is second (-1) and Chattanooga third (E).
Play resumes tomorrow with CofC paired with host Old Dominion and UCF. The Cougars will tee-off the No. 1 beginning at 8:55 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
