CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Women's Basketball Head Coach Robin Harmony has announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on national signing day for the College of Charleston Women's Basketball program.
Amira Williams – 5'10" – Wing
A former State Champion, Williams joins the College of Charleston from Winston-Salem Christian Academy. The Winston-Salem, N.C. native is an All-State, All-Northwest, four-time All-Conference and a two-time All-Tournament Team honoree. Williams is ranked the No. 5 ranked guard in the state of North Carolina, per ASGR.
"Amira is an athletic cerebral wing who fits our system perfectly. She can run and jump with the best prospects in the nation," said Harmony. "We can't wait to see her excel in our pressing, up-tempo system."
Anika McGarity – 6'1" – Wing
A Preseason Player of the Year honoree, McGarity joins The College from Smithson Valley High School. The San Antonio, Texas native holds the record for most threes in a season with 76 and most career three pointers with 158 in two seasons. She is a TGCA All-Star and earned TGCA All-Region, First Team All-District and All-Region honors. McGarity is the No. 17 ranked guard in the state of Texas, per ASGR.
"Anika is one of the best, pure shooters in the country. Combine her shooting with her long athletic frame and basketball IQ, she is hard to defend," said Harmony. "Anika will really open things up for us offensively. At 6-1, her length will get her to defend multiple positions."
Tyler Gray – 5'8" – PG
Gray joins The College from Elizabeth Seaton High School, which is in the toughest district in the country. Gray plays travel ball with the Fairfax Stars and is from Baltimore, Md.
"Tyler is a tough, gritty point guard who loves to defend the ball full court," said Harmony. "She pushes the ball up tempo in the full court and is an exceptional passer in the ¼ court with the ability to drive the paint and find open shooters."
