Cougars Begin New Era Under Harmony

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Women's Basketball ushers in a new era led by Head Coach Robin Harmony for the 2019-20 season.

Last season, the Cougars finished last in the conference with an overall record of 7-23 and a 3-15 record in CAA play. They look to improve from that outing with the addition of a new coaching staff, led by Harmony.

CofC graduated two seniors from the 2018-19 season which includes 2018-19 All-CAA Third Team member Darien Huff and Bri Sullivan. Huff led the team in scoring with 12.6 points per game and in steals with 47 on the season. Sullivan averaged 2.2 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game with 26 appearances and 13 starts, averaging 16.3 minutes per game.

The College returns all but one starter from last season including sophomores Madison Taylor, Arynn Eady and Tyler Collins, along with 2018-19 CAA All-Third Team honoree and Preseason CAA Honorable Mention senior Deja Ford. In addition, eight letterwinners return for CofC, with four newcomers joining Harmony's squad.

Ford finished the 2018-19 season second on the team in scoring and rebounds with 12.2 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game. Collins served as the primary floor general last season as she accumulated a team-high 131 assists while also pouring in 7.6 points per game. Eady played a key role for the Cougars on the low block, snagging a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game.

The Cougars tip-off the season with a home matchup against George Mason on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. before facing a two-game road stint against Wake Forest and High Point on Nov. 8 and 10, respectively.

CofC will host 14 teams at TD Arena and is set to travel for 15 games throughout the course of the 2019-20 season. Non-conference play will conclude with a home matchup against Western Carolina on Monday, Dec. 30 and will be followed up with conference play beginning on Friday, Jan. 3 against Drexel at TD Arena.

William & Mary comes into town for Education Day on Friday, Feb. 7 with tip-off scheduled for noon, followed up with Elon on Sunday, Feb. 9 for Breast Cancer Awareness Day at 1 p.m. Senior Day is set for Sunday, March 1 with a matchup against Northeastern at 1 p.m.
