
Cougars Fall To The Tigers In Towson

TOWSON, Md. - Darien Huff scored 16 points as the College of Charleston finished out a two-game road stretch with a 87-61 loss to Towson on Sunday afternoon in round 13 of Colonial Athletic Association play.
Arynn Eady opened the game with her own 6-0 run for the Charleston offense as the teams exchanged baskets, Madison Taylor knocking down her first three early in the first period.
Towson (15-9, 9-4 CAA) used a 9-0 run to take the lead just before the end of the first quarter, Charleston (7-17, 3-10 CAA) finally grabbing a basket with an Ericka Broughton jumper as the clock wound down.
An 8-0 run in the second saw Taylor hitting back-to-back trey's to go 3-3 from deep, Tyler Collins fouled on a layup and getting the basket as Charleston responded to the hosts offense.
The Tigers came back with another offensive push to increase their lead back out to 38-24, Taylor driving to the basket, getting the foul and knocking down free throws to stop the slide.
Towson finished the first half hot from the floor, shooting 50% with a 12 point lead. Huff opening the second half with a three for Charleston, her first of the game, with Ford knocking down a jumper for a quick 5-0 Charleston run.
Towson came back with 12 unanswered points to force a Cougars timeout, Broughton finally getting Charleston back on the board with her third basket of the game, hitting 100 career points in the process.
The hosts continued to push their lead into the fourth until the Cougars offense showed some life. Lexi Maddox knocking down her third basket of the game, Huff hitting her second three-pointer and a jumper for a 10-0 Charleston run, but the Tigers double-digit lead would remain the rest of the way to take the 87-61 victory.
With the loss Charleston moves to 7-17 on the season, 3-10 in CAA play, and now look to a homestand against Delaware on Friday Feb. 22 and Drexel on Sunday Feb. 24.
