LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The College of Charleston offshore sailing team posted podium finishes in nine of 10 races to win the 2019 Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup and highlight an impressive weekend, as the Cougars finished fourth or better in three other regattas.
Charleston finished the Harbor Cup seven points clear of California Maritime Academy with a total of 25. The Cougars won three races and placed third or better in six more to finish the three-day regatta in first place. Sailing for the Cougars were: captain William Hundahl. helmsman Jordan Wiggins, main William Comerford, primary Sam Tobio, secondary Key Becker, pit Emily Essi, mast Graham Post, bow Burke Anvari, and squirrel Emily Potter.

The Cougars finished the regatta with 98 points compared to 78 for first-place Yale. Toppa and crew Annabel Carrington delivered seven podium performances in 11 races, as Nicole Simon combined with crews Clare Perry and Hannah Kinder for 65 points in B-Division.
The Cougars sent two teams out on the water from the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex at the Charleston Spring Coed on Saturday and Sunday. Team one finished second with 180 points, while team two was fifth with 195 points.
Skipper William Curtiss and crew Laura Masterson finished second in B-Division with 79 points to pace team one, while Will Martens and Anna Cornetta placed second in A-Division with 101 points. Liza Toppa and Caroline Bracken led the way for team two with 85 points in B-Division, as Marian Williams and Elizabeth Mignon finished fourth in A-Division with 110 points.
