CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's golf team co-hosts with the University of South Carolina and Hootie and The Blowfish Foundation one of this year's premiere collegiate men's golf tournaments in the country – The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on March 24-26 at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
CofC is joined in the 15-team tournament field by No. 4-ranked Duke, No. 20 South Carolina, No. 27 NC State, No. 36 Kansas, No. 38 Iowa State, No. 41 West Virginia, No. 48 Ole Miss, Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, Kent State, Purdue, Wisconsin and Middle Tennessee.
The Cougars will start reigning Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.), junior Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.), junior Christian Baliker (Greenville, S.C.), junior Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Raphael Geissler (Karlsruhe, Germany).
"This coming weekend is a great opportunity to represent CofC in front of the Charleston golfing community," CofC Head Coach Mitch Krywulycz said. "The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate is a special event and a great opportunity for us to try to get under par early as a team.
"A course that typically offers high-risk reward shot making, our challenge will be to play positively while balancing tough pin positions and the elements. Sunday will be an exciting day for all of our CofC supporters as we have some unique activities going on in the afternoon at Bulls Bay. I encourage any fans to come out and enjoy what will be a first-class collegiate event."
CofC will be paired with Kentucky and Kansas in tomorrow's opening round and tee-off the No. 1 beginning at 10:00 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available for all three rounds at: www.BirdieFire.com
Cougar Club Golf Event: Join The Cougar Club on Sunday, March 24 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Bulls Bay Golf Club located at 995 Bulls Bay Blvd, Awendaw, SC 29429. There will be a private table with drinks and snacks available to all CofC fans, who attend the golf event (timed to view the Cougars playing holes specifically near the clubhouse for viewing ease).
