
Cougars Tie Win Mark With Friday Victories Over Missouri State, UNCW

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Three pairings posted a pair of victories to lead the way for the College of Charleston beach volleyball team, as the Cougars equaled their single-season program record of 16 wins with 4-1 decisions over Missouri State and UNCW on Friday at South Carolina's Palmetto Invitational.
College of Charleston (16-2) opened the day with a 4-1 win over Missouri State (11-9) before replicating the score line with a 4-1 victory against UNCW (7-12) in the afternoon session.

Charleston collected its 15th win of the season with a 4-1 victory against Missouri State in the morning session.
Katja Ehlers (Raleigh, N.C.) and Taylor Foley (Agoura Hills, Calif.) won in straight sets at five's, 21-16 and 21-15 to start the day, before Amani Dunston (Agoura, Calif.) and Sky Benjamin (Easley, S.C.) posted a 21-18, 210-18 victory at four's to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead.
McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) and Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) improved to 16-1 on the season with a 21-16, 21-15 win at two's to clinch the victory for the Cougars. Kenned Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) rallied for a 17-21, 21-13, 15-9 win at one's, while Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) and Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) fell at three's by scores of 18-21, 21-17, 11-15. Mandy Napierala (Rochester, N.Y.) and Megan Morris (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) were defeated at sixes, 15-21, 19-21.

The Cougars completed the first-day sweep with a 4-1 win over UNCW in the afternoon session. Beckman and Manusky got Charleston off the mark with a 21-16, 21-17 win at four's, before Ehlers and Foley delivered a 17-21, 21-13, 15-13 comeback victory at five's to put the Cougars in front, 2-0.
Dunston and Benjamin clinched the Cougars' record-tying 16th victory with a 21-14, 21-12 win at three's, as Rhodes and Rachel moved to 17-1 with a 21-15, 21-14 decision at two's. Madison and Freed fell at one's 21-23, 18-21.
Charleston returns to the courts on Saturday with two matches at the Palmetto Invitational in Columbia, S.C. The Cougars will take Tulane at 11:00 a.m., and South Carolina at 5:00 p.m.
