Charleston to Close Regular Season at Palmetto Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston beach volleyball team makes the short trek to Columbia, S.C. this weekend to close out its regular season at South Carolina's Palmetto Invitational. Charleston will compete in four duals on Friday and Saturday, including two against teams either ranked or receiving votes in the latest AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll.
The Cougars will take on No. 11 South Carolina as well as Tulane, which is receiving votes in this week's poll. Duals with Missouri State and UNCW complete the weekend schedule for the Cougars. Charleston carries a 14-2 record into the weekend after picking up wins over UAB and Tampa at the Georgia State Diggin' Duals on Mar. 29 and 30.
Seniors Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) and McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) lead the way for the Cougars with a 15-1 record at No. 2, while Charleston's top pairing of senior Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and junior Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) are 14-2 on the season.
The Cougars will take on Missouri State and UNCW on Friday at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively, and Tulane on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. Charleston will then close out the weekend with a 5:00 p.m. matchup against No. 11 South Carolina on Saturday evening.
