Cougars Set to Compete at Queen City Invite

Charleston, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country teams head to Charlotte on Friday for the Queen City Invite at McAlpine Creek Park. The women's 5K race is at 5 p.m. followed by the men's 8K at 5:30.
This will be the second meet of the season for the Cougars. At the JMU Invitational on September 14, Hayden DiBona and Jackson Wedge finished fifth and sixth, respectively, to lead four Charleston men in the Top 10. Sam Beattie was eighth while Tyler Fish finished ninth.
The women, who are looking forward to the return of No. 1 runner Tess Masselink, were led by freshman Rhian Purves, who was 20th in a field of 60 runners.
Following Friday's meet, the Cougars will co-host the Charleston Classic along with The Citadel and the Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission on October 5 at Johns Island County Park.
