MT. PLEASANT, S.C. --- Lauren Freed and Mandy Napierala collected a pair of wins to lead College of Charleston to a split with Mercer and Coastal Carolina on Saturday to open play at the CofC Creekside Beach Classic at the Creekside Tennis & Swim Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cougars opened the day with a 3-2 win over Mercer featuring wins at ones, fours and fives. The duos of Emma Falk/Logan Manusky and Sky Benjamin/Ella Ridinger sent Charleston into the second wave with a 2-0 lead before Lauren Freed and Mandy Napierala secured the win with a victory at ones.

In the afternoon session, Charleston and Coastal Carolina split at fours and fives to head into the second wave knotted at 1-1. Napierala and Freed collected the Cougars' second point with a sweep at ones but the Chanticleers countered with victories at twos and threes to edge the Cougars, 3-2.

PAIR OF THE DAY
Napierala and Freed earned their first two wins of the season with a pair of superb performances at ones. The duo opened the day with a 21-17, 23-21 match-clinching victory against Mercer before delivering a 21-18, 21-17 win against Coastal Carolina in the afternoon.
