
Ambrose, Wedge Pace Cougars at Chanticleer Challenge

CONWAY, S.C. – Cate Ambrose and Jack Wedge were the top finishers for the College of Charleston cross country teams at the Chanticleer Challenge on Friday in Conway, S.C.
Ambrose finished 20th in a field of 87 runners with a 5k time of 18:51.3. She was two spots ahead of Kristen Cherry, who covered the course in 19:07.7. The women finished in fifth place in the team standings.
Wedge and Jackson Reid were both in the Top 40 among 90 runners in the 8k race. Wedge posted a time of 28:04.2 to place 37th, and Reid was 39th in 28:11.1. The men were sixth in the team standings.
Cougar Women
• Ambrose and Cherry have finished 1-2 among Cougar runners in all three meets this fall.
• Also scoring for CofC were Rhian Purves (28th, 19:17.8), Sophia Brown (30th, 19:26.3) and Emily Dorony (35th, 19:35.4).
• Purves has been the No. 3 runner for the Cougars in each meet.
• Brown was fifth among CofC athletes in the first two meets before moving up to fourth on Friday.
• Also competing were Morgan Summey (19:57.9), Meike Kalus (20:47.0), Shannon Smith (20:47.7), Isabel Muehleman (21:27.4) and Grace McGrew (23:47.8).
Cougar Men
• Wedge led the men for the second straight meet. Reid has been second after leading the Cougars in the opening race.
• Dylan McTigue had his best finish by placing third among his teammates with a time of 28:21.6, taking 42nd overall.
• Rounding out the scorers were Hammer Blair (44th, 28:28.2) and Ryan Moosbrugger (55th, 29:03.8). The duo has scored in all three meets this fall.
• Nick Rienzo (29:17.4), Joshua Keifer (30:37.1) and Lucas Davis (31:47.4) also competed for CofC.
