
Cougars Place Third at North Points #5 to Highlight Busy Weekend

CLEMSON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing team finished third at North Points #5 on Saturday and placed 13th at the Coed ACC Semifinals on Saturday and Sunday on a busy weekend for the Cougars.
The Cougars opened the weekend with a third-place finish at North Points #5 accumulating 24 points from three rotations. Freshman skipper Leah Cody and fellow rookie crew Sophia Brown led the way with eight points and a second-place performance in B-Division while freshman Grace Beard and sophomore Cara Samson finished sixth in A-Division with 16 points.
Charleston placed 13th at the Coed ACC Semifinals with 359 points from 18 rotations. Junior skipper Brandon Geller and sophomore crew Kalea Woodard finished with 179 points in A-Division while sophomores Alex Stordahl and Lucy Klempen accrued 180 points in B-Division.
Low winds throughout the weekend prevented racing from taking place at the Larchmont Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta. Scheduled to sail for the Cougars were Emily Potter at driver, Sean Groskoph at main/tactics, John McCarthy at primary, Megan Fetterley at secondary, Maggie Wilcox at pit, Evan Chenard at mast and Cade Morris at bow.
