Charleston Primed for Key Weekend on the Water

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing team will compete in three regattas this weekend with a trip to the Women's ACC Finals on Saturday and Sunday in Boston, Mass. on the docket as well as a national champion berth on the line at the SAISA Match Race Championships on Saturday and Sunday in St. Petersburg, Fla. Charleston will also make the trip to Kings Point, N.Y. to compete for the Nevin's Trophy on Saturday and Sunday.
The marquee event of the weekend for the Cougars is undoubtedly the SAISA Match Race Championship with a national championship berth on the line. Sophomore Axel Stordahl will skipper for CofC alongside senior main/tactics Pierce Ornstein, senior trimmer Jack Sutton and sophomore bow Chloe Hudgins comprising Stordahl's crew on the J70.
At the Women's ACC Finals, senior Kiera O'Reardon will skipper A-Division for the Cougars with junior Anna Sherry crewing. Freshman Fredrikke Foss is slated to skipper B-Division with junior Noelle Owen at crew; sophomore Cara Samson will make the trip as well as a heavy extra.
The Cougars will also compete for the Nevin's Trophy in Kings Point, N.Y. with sophomore Max Anker skippering A-Division alongside sophomore light crew Kalea Woodard and freshman heavy crew Ryan Hexter. Junior Brandon Geller is slated to skipper B-Division with junior Roxanne Snyder at light crew and sophomore Garrett Grenauer at heavy crew.
