
CofC Places Seventh of 15 Against Tough Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Field

Four Cougars finished in the Top 30 individually
FINAL RESULTS
CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The CofC Men's Golf team wrapped up play on Tuesday at the 23rd annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate hosted by East Tennessee State. Sixteen teams converged on the Blackthorn Club at The Ridges in Jonesborough and duked it out for 54 holes with CofC emerging in 7th place following Tuesday's final round.
Charleston shot a trio of identical 6-under par 282s in three consecutive rounds to finish at 18-under par (846). Four of the six teams who finished ahead of the Cougars were ranked in Golfweek's Top 50, but CofC edged No. 11 NC State by seven strokes.
Freshman Kieron van Wyk and sophomore Zach Reuland led four Cougars who finished in the Top 30 out of 93 competitors. Van Wyk moved up 13 spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday with a 4-under 68, a new career low for him. The South Africa native ripped off seven birdies in the final round, including five on the front nine.
Reuland shot even par on Tuesday and placed T-19 as well, finishing at 5-under for the tournament. He was anchored by a 5-under 67 on Monday. He has tallied six straight rounds of par or better to begin the 2021-22 campaign.
Senior Jack Parrott and freshman Nevill Ruiter both finished T-29 at 2-under par. Parrott rounded out his week with an even par 72 on Tuesday while Ruiter moved up 12 positions with a 2-under 70 – his fourth round of par or better in his first two career tournaments.
Freshman Cameron Johnstone made his CofC debut this week and punctuated the first career start with an even par 72 on Tuesday. He holed an eagle on the Par-5 fourth hole and added on a pair of birdies in a solid round.
Ty Sullivan placed T-75 overall individually, sinking four birdies in Tuesday's final round.
