
Freshman Nevill Ruiter Wins Daniel Island Intercollegiate, Cougars Tie For Third

FINAL RESULTS
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Freshmen phenom duo Nevill Ruiter and Kieron van Wyk ended the College of Charleston Men's Golf fall season in electric fashion, leading the Cougars to a T-3 finish at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate by taking first and second overall. Ruiter earned medalist honors for the first time in his career with a 4-under performance, besting a field of 104 competitors to clinch the tournament championship.
Meanwhile van Wyk charged up the leaderboard on Tuesday to finish 3-under for the tournament and T-2 overall, the highest finish of his young career. He shot three consecutive rounds at even or under par.
Behind Ruiter and van Wyk, CofC finished T-3 out of 20 teams behind only Seton Hall and South Carolina. The Cougars shot even-par for the week, highlighted by a 4-under 284 in Monday's second round.
Senior Jack Parrott remained as consistent as ever, carding a 73, 73 and 72 to earn a Top-20 finish. Sophomore Zach Reuland ended a strong fall campaign with a T-32 performance at 5-over par.
Freshman Tim Bertenbreiter made his first career start and placed T-76. He fired a career low 73 in the second round on Monday.
CofC now preps for the spring season with a ton of momentum. Ruiter, van Wyk and company return to action Jan. 31 at the Sea Best Invitational in Jacksonville.
