Wedge topped the Cougar men for the fourth time this season with an 8k mark of 27:03.5. Hammer Blair led a group of five CofC runners finishing between 32nd and 37th with a time of 28:17.6.
Rhian Purves (23:31.6) and Emily Dorony (23:34.9) were 38th and 39th, respectively, while Sophia Brown rounded out the Cougar women's scorers with a time of 23:53.6. Also competing for the women were Morgan Summey (24:30.3) and Shannon Smith (25:21.7).
A pack of Cougar men crossed the finish line one after another, with Ryan Moosbrugger taking 34th (28:21.3) followed by Dylan McTigue (28:31.1) and Jackson Reid (28:34.4). Lucas Davis just missed scoring by finishing 37th in 28:35.1, and Nick Rienzo was 44th in 29:31.3.
Head Coach Amy Seago on the women's race
"This was not exactly the day we were hoping for. We could have been more aggressive in the middle of the race, and unfortunately that cost us valuable places and put us on the wrong side of the place bubble. This race does not define us. I know we are better than we showed today. I'm proud of the work the women have done and growth they have shown throughout the season. We are focused on regionals and look forward to another chance to be our best."
Assistant Coach Chris Bailey on the men's race
"Our men gave a solid effort on a sloppy course. Jack Wedge put himself in the race early on, but the res of our team allowed a gap to form that made it hard to move up later. I look forward to NCAA Regionals where they can show the fitness I know is there."
Up Next
The Cougars are off next weekend before competing in the NCAA Southeast Regional on November 12 in Louisville, Ky.
