
Van Wyk Places T-4, Paces Charleston as Cougars Tie for Fifth at Sea Best Invitational

FINAL RESULTS
Jacksonville, Fla. – Freshman phenom Kieron van Wyk continued his stellar rookie campaign, placing T-4 to lead College of Charleston at the Sea Best Invitational in Jacksonville on Tuesday. Van Wyk finished 1-over-par at the Par-70 TPC Sawgrass Dye's Valley Course to claim his second consecutive Top-5 finish and third straight Top-20 performance this season.
Charleston finished T-5 overall, tying No. 33 Louisville and besting No. 9 Texas A&M and No. 45 Charlotte, among others. The Cougars secured their second straight Top-5 team finish after their T-3 outing at the Daniel Island Invitational in November. CofC shot an 18-over-par 858 (285-282-291) to tie for fifth at the Sea Best.
Van Wyk paced the Top-5 team performance, firing five more birdies in Tuesday's final round to finish with a tournament-high 15 for the week. He was consistent throughout the event following an opening round 71 with a pair of even-par 70s. Van Wyk outpaced nine individual competitors ranked in Golfstat's Top 100 nationally at the Sea Best Invite.
Freshman Nevill Ruiter and sophomore Zach Reuland both tied for 21st individually at 5-over par. Ruiter birdied the 18th hole on Tuesday to move up five spots on the leaderboard. His week was highlighted by a 2-under 68 in the second round. Reuland entered shot a 6-over-par 76 on Tuesday after a stellar Monday that featured a 3-under 67 in the opening round.
Senior Jack Parrott placed T-32 at 7-over par, carding a 71 on Tuesday for the best round of his tournament. Parrott birdied three of the last four holes in the final round. Freshman Cameron Johnstone placed T-68 at 17-over par.
The Cougars now head to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico for the famed Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue. That tournament runs Sunday, Feb. 13-Tuesday-Feb. 15.
