JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The College of Charleston men's golf team launches its spring campaign on Monday at the Sea Best Invitational hosted by Jacksonville University. The tournament, which features 36 holes on Jan. 31 and 18 final holes on Feb. 1, is being played at TPC Sawgrass' Dye's Valley course.
Thirteen schools will converge on the Par-70, 6,873-yard course including Campbell, Charlotte, CofC, Florida, FGCU, Jacksonville, Liberty, Lipscomb, Louisville, North Florida, Texas A&M, UAB and USC Upstate. The field tees off Monday at 8 a.m. ET.
Head coach Mitch Krywulycz' squad enters the spring season after ending the fall campaign strong, as the Cougars claimed a season-best T-3 finish at the Daniel Island Invitational on Nov. 1. Freshman Nevill Ruiter earned the first tournament victory of his career at the Daniel Island Invite and fellow freshman phenom Kieron van Wyk placed T-2.
The Cougars begin the spring campaign ranked No. 72 nationally in Golfstat's latest rankings, the highest of any Colonial Athletic Association program. Ruiter and van Wyk will lead CofC's lineup at the Sea Best Invite in the hopes to keep Charleston's ranking on the rise. Senior Jack Parrott is slotted third in the lineup and decorated sophomore Zach Reuland is in the fifth spot. Making his second career start, freshman Cameron Johnstone rounds out the Cougars' lineup in the fourth spot.
