CHARLESTON, S.C. - The CofC equestrian team is set to host the College of Charleston IHSA Fall Classic, a two-day, world-class event at the White Horses Boarding & Training Facility (160 Sea Horse Ln, Huger, SC 29450) on Saturday on Sunday. Fans are encouraged to attend and support the squad at the show that begins at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
"We are honored and excited to be hosting our double home show this weekend, the CofC IHSA Fall Classic," head coach Natasha McCarthy said. "Our riders are prepared to ride well and are super pumped to welcome all of our regions' teams to compete right here on our home turf. Producing a horse show of any kind takes a lot of work. The process of this event has really bonded our team further and we just can't wait to welcome our regional colleges to our facility to begin the weekend ahead."
Day One includes senior Kate Coffey competing in both the Open Flat and Open Fences events. Coffey launched her senior campaign by earning High Point Rider at the season-opening USC IHSA Horse Show in October. Coffey will be joined by freshman Kathryn McCarthy riding in both the Open Flat & Open Fences, and freshman Caroline Berg in the Open Flat.
Head coach Natasha McCarthy's Saturday lineup also features Emma Avent riding in the Intermediate Flat and Intermediate Fences, Kate Zimmer in the Intermediate Flat and Connelly Grant in the Intermediate Fences.
A quartet of Cougars is set to ride in Saturday's Limit Flat competition as McLean Holmes, Lauren Katz, Winter Hein and Hailey Pendl will all represent CofC in that event. Rounding out The College's lineup on Saturday are Lindsey Johnson and Zimmer competing in Limit Fences, Natalie Juckett & Morgan Hazeltine in Novice Class and Maria Price in Introductory Class.
The Cougars will get right back at it on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. with a second day of action. Sunday's only CofC lineup changes include Katz adding the Intermediate Fences competition to her slate, and Morgan Phippen & Claire Thalhimer making their CofC IHSA Fall Classic debuts in the Limit Flat and Eleanore Fish making her CofC IHSA Fall Classic debut in the Novice class.
