Cougars Face Another Road Test at Norfolk State

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The College of Charleston women's basketball team will carry its 2-0 record on the road as it visits Norfolk State (2-2, 0-0) on Friday night. The game will tipoff at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on NSUSpartans.com.

- CofC is gaining momentum after two huge wins to begin its season. The Cougars went to Wofford and dominated the Terriers en route to an 80-48 win, then returned home to coast to a win over Division-3 Pfeiffer 113-52
- Charleston broke multliple records in its thrashing of Pfeiffer. Its 61 first half points was the most a CofC team has scored in the division-one era, while its 113 points were the most total points CofC has scored in a game as a division-one program
- Offensively, the Cougars are shooting 51% from the field, 39.2% from three-point range, and 86.2% from the foul line as a team
- Through its first two games of the season, Charleston has six players averaging double- figures in points
- Freshman Grace Abercrombie was named the CAA Rookie of the Week for the first week of the season. The wing from Jacksonville Texas averaged 11.5 points per game, including an outburst against Pfeiffer in which Abercrombie scored 18 points and connected on four triples
- Abercrombie is also averaging 4.5 rebounds ans 1.0 steals per game
- The Spartans are off to a 2-2 start, with both losses coming on the road to high major competition
- Norfolk State has six players averaging between 6.0 and 11.0 points per game this season
- In games against division-one competition. the Spartans are averaging just 51 points per game
- This is the first time the Cougars and Spartans have met in the history of the two programs
- The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 23 as Charleston begins a three-game homestand with a matchup with Tarleton State. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 7:00 p.m at TD Arena.
