
Cougars Open Up Christmas Classic With 77-59 Win Over Radford

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The College of Charleston women's basketball team (7-3, 0-0) opened up the Coastal Carolina Christmas Classic with a 77-59 blitzing of Radford. It is the fourth consecutive win for CofC.
First Half
- The first quarter was dominated by Anika McGarity and the Cougars
- McGarity connected on all five of her three-point attempts, totaling 15 points in the opening period
- Radford would tally just 11 points in the quarter, as the Cougars led 27-11 after one
- The Cougars' shooting cooled off a little in the second quarter, but the defense did not. CofC once again held the Highlanders to just 11 points in the second period as well
- Anika McGarity and Arynn Eady combined for 30 of Charleston's 40 first half points. Eady also added eight rebounds, a block, and a steal in the opening 20 minutes
- CofC recorded seven steals and forced 12 turnovers in the first half
- At the break, the Cougars led Radford 40-22
Second Half
- The Cougars would outscore the Highlanders 22-18 in the third
- Charleston led by as many as 28 in the third quarter
- The game would enter the final period with CofC leading 62-38
- Radford opened the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run that cut Charleston lead to 62-47 with just over seven minutes remaining
- The Cougars would respond with eight consecutive points to put the game out of the Highlanders' reach
- Charleston would wind down the clock and finish off the 77-59 victory

- The Cougars move to 5-0 away from TD Arena this season
- Charleston shot 47.1 percent (33-of-70) from the field and 38.9 percent (7-of-18) from distance
- CofC forced 26 turnovers and tallied 16 steals
Key Cougars
- Anika McGarity dropped a career-high 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from downtown. The seven made three-pointers tie the second best individual mark in program history
- Arynn Eady scored a season-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds
- Latrice Perkins added 14 points, seven boards, and five steals
- Jenna Annecchiarico tossed in eight points, six assists, and four steals

- The Cougars will have a quick turnaround as Charleston will face Florida A&M on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in its final game in Conway.
