
CofC Basketball Ready for Return Trip to Tulane Tuesday Night

CHARLESTON, S.C. - CofC Basketball takes on Tulane for the second time in a week, this time in New Orleans on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET. The second battle with the Green Wave this season will air on ESPN+.

STORYLINES
- Charleston Basketball is coming off a tough overtime road loss to Furman on Friday night. The Cougars are 1-2 in true road games this season after knocking off preseason SoCon favorite Chattanooga on Nov. 27. CofC is off to its best start to a season at 5-3 since the 2018-19 campaign.
- Charleston takes on Tulane for the second time in a 7-day span on Tuesday in New Orleans. The Cougars had never faced the Green Wave in program history before beating Tulane 81-77 on Nov. 30 at TD Arena. The win over Tulane helped CofC finish November with at least five wins already for just the fourth time since 2009.
- In last Tuesday's battle with the Green Wave, CofC set season-highs for 3s made (12), assists (21) and steals (13). The 21 assists marked the most dished in a single game by CofC since racking up 22 against North Greenville on Dec. 13, 2015. It also marked the most steals in a game since collecting 14 vs. Delaware on March 4, 2016.
- In Tulane's other seven games this season, the Green Wave are averaging 10.6 turnovers. In the Nov. 30 matchup at TD Arena, Tulane committed 19 turnovers. The Cougars scored 28 key points off those turnovers en route to the win.
- CofC also hit a season-high 12 triples against Tulane, matching the most made by any team against the Green Wave this season. CofC has made 10+ triples in five of eight games this season. The Cougars are shooting 44.8 percent from 3-point range (22-of-49) over the last two games after draining 10-of-24 from deep at Furman.
- That effort from beyond the arc has been paced by freshman phenom Reyne Smith, who has made 12 combined threes over the last two games and 31 this season, the most by an freshman in the country. Smith hit six triples against Tulane last time out and followed with a career-high 24 points at Furman. He leads CofC in scoring at 15.6 PPG heading into Tuesday night.
- Charleston's earlier win over Tulane gives the Cougars two wins over Top-150 KenPom teams (No. 148 Tulane, No. 102 Chattanooga).
- The Cougars are 33-23 on the road since 2016-17 entering Tuesday's battle in NOLA.
- Charleston is racking up 82.6 possessions per game. That leads the nation.
- When CofC holds opponents to fewer than 80 points this season, the Cougars are 5-0.

- Smith is just the third Cougar to hit at least six 3s in a single game twice during the same season and the first since Nori Johnson in 2014.
- Smith is also shooting a team-high 90.9 percent from the free throw line this season. That leads the entire CAA. CofC is shooting 73.4 percent from the charity stripe as a team through eight games.
- Senior John Meeks has now racked up 35 double-digit scoring games after chipping in 14 points on 5-of-7 FGs at Furman,
- Senior Dimitrius Underwood is leading CofC in rebounding (6.5) offensive boards (19 total), steals (19 total) and assists (27 total) while chipping in 9.5 PPG. He is coming off a strong season-best 15-point, nine-rebounding outing at Furman.
- Sophomore transfer Fah'mir Ali has dished at least three assists in seven of CofC's eight games
- Sophomore Nick Farrar, a transfer from NC State, was a team-best +16 in eight high-energy minutes at Chattanooga. He most recently scored a season-best 10 points at Furman. He went 5-of-8 from the field in 14 strong minutes off the bench.
