Cougars Close Out Season With Back-To-Back Home Shows

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston equestrian team will close out its season this weekend with back-to-back home shows on March 13-14 at the White Horses Boarding and Training Facility in Huger, S.C.

Saturday's regular-season competition will include 17 riders, while Sunday's postseason competition includes those who qualified for IHSA Regionals as well as graduating seniors on the squad.

On Sunday, all seniors from each college will participate in a Senior Walk, where they will walk center stage in the show ring, accompanied by their parents for photos and flowers.

"We are looking forward to finishing our spring season on a high note," CofC Head Coach Natasha V. McCarthy said. "In addition to hosting our last show of the regular season, we are honored to be hosting this year's IHSA Regional Championship.

"The Regional Championship will be offering two Senior Equitation on the Flat Championships and a Regional Cacchione Cup Championship. Along with these three special events, the spotlight will continue to be on all of the graduating seniors, as we invite them into center ring for a full 'Senior Walk' – a fun acknowledgment for all – as we wish them a very supportive farewell."

In the Cougars' last show at the Lander University doubleheader in Greenwood, S.C., senior captain Allyson Pace qualified for regionals in the Limit Flat class.

Junior Kate Coffey and senior Beverly Davis will be making their second-straight appearance at IHSA Regionals. Both helped lead CofC to last year's IHSA Regional Championship title with four blue-ribbon rides at Lander.
