MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Cate Ambrose scored in three events, including one first-place finish, to lead the College of Charleston track and field team at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
Ambrose won the mile and set a PR with a time of 5:09.97 and was seventh in the 800 in 2:26.03. Tess Masselink led three Cougars who scored in the 3000 with a PR-time of 10:16.46, good for third place. She was followed by Kristen Cherry in fourth (10:35.06) and Isabel Muehleman in eighth (10:50.62).
Areyanna Scott was sixth in the javelin with a top throw of 37.73m (123-9), and Chloe Christian tied for fourth in the pole vault at 3.20m (10-6).
The 4x400 meter relay team of Ambrose, Laurie Fogleman, Jordan Dean and Kaitlynn Bailey was seventh in 4:21.32.
The Cougars are off until April 10 when they compete in the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia.
