
Sass Shoots 2-Under 70 In Solid Opening Round at The Hootie

AWENDAW, S.C. – College of Charleston graduate senior Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.) shot a 2-under par 70 in a solid opening round for the Cougars at The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Sunday.
He birdied the 2nd and 4th holes and is currently in a nine-way tie for seventh – two shots back of co-leaders Andrew Kozan of Auburn, Cade Breitenstine of Kent State, Tommy Boone of Missouri and Jamie Wilson of South Carolina.
Graduate senior Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.) also had a great round with an eagle on the par-5 4th and three birdies for a 1-under 71. He is tied for 16th.
The Cougars led the 16-team field through the first six holes of the tournament, but are still in good standing after Day One, tied for sixth (-1) with NC State behind current leader Kent State (-10), Missouri in second (-6), Auburn third (-5), Purdue fourth (-3) and Wisconsin fifth (-2).
