Cougars Head to North Carolina for CAA Cross Country Championships

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country teams will compete in the 2021 CAA Championships on Friday at the Old Fort Golf Course in Winnabow, N.C.

The women's 6K begins at 10 a.m. followed by the men's 8K at 11 a.m. This will be CofC's second race on the course, having competed in the CAA Preview Meet there on January 29.

The Cougar women have run one race at the 6K distance this season with Cate Ambrose pacing the team with a time of 22:46.48 at the High Point Winter VertCross on February 12. Tess Masselink (23:14.45), Kristen Cherry (23:22.78) and Rhian Purves (23:26.41) also finished in the top 20 at that event.

Masselink will be attempting to earn her third spot on the All-CAA team during her career, including a second-place finish in 2018.

The CofC men have competed only once this season, with Jackson Reid leading the team at the Winter VertCross 8K with a time of 27:28.85. He was followed by Hammer Blair (28:29.93) and William McCann (28:41.30).
