Jordan Dean, Kaitlynn Bailey Sprint Up Record Book at CAA Meet

HARRISONBURG, VA. – Jordan Dean broke into the College of Charleston record book in the 100, and Kaitlynn Bailey moved up a spot in the 400 to highlight the first day of the Colonial Athletic Association Track and Field Championships.

Dean posted a time of 12.67 to take over ninth place in school history, while Bailey lowered her PR to 58.92 and climbed to ninth. Bailey also had a PR in the 200 with a time of 26.01 as did Alicia Wilson (28.71) and Sophia Cucinotta (29.89).

Rhian Purves advanced to Saturday's final in the 1500 with a qualifying time of 4:52.75.

Areyanna Scott secured the first point of the meet for the Cougars by finishing eighth in the javelin with a throw of 38.00m (124 feet, 8 inches). Haley Dempsey was one spot behind Scott with a top mark of 36.95m (121-3).

In addition to Purves in the 1500 final tomorrow, CofC athletes will compete in the steeplechase, 5000 and 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays on the track and discus, triple jump and pole vault in the field events.
