Sanford, N.C. – Incoming College of Charleston freshman Emma Schimpf fired an even par 72 to earn a spot in the upcoming U.S. Women's Amateur in August. Schimpf finished tied for second in the field of 65 players at Carolina Trace Country Club.
Schimpf earned her second trip to the U.S. Women's Am having also earned a spot in the 2019 championship held at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. She shot 77-75 in that championship missing the match play portion by five shots. Schimpf also competed in the U.S. Junior Girls in 2019.
"It is very impressive that before coming to college Emma will have competed in two U.S. Am's and one U.S. Junior Girls Championship," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "During her junior career, she seems to always rise up at the biggest tournaments."
