
Cougars to Open Season on Saturday

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing team will open the 2021 season on its home waters this weekend when the Cougars host the SAISA Coed on Saturday and Sunday at the J. Stewart Walker Complex. Charleston's offshore team will also deploy two boats at the Leukemia Cup on Saturday in Charleston.
The Cougars will field two teams at this weekend's regatta. Freshman Charlie McKenzie will skipper A-Division for CofC A with fellow rookie Grace Beard at crew and sophomore Garrett Grenauer at heavy. Christofor Tella, Jr. is slated to man the tiller in B-Division with freshmen Sophia Browne and Ryan Hexter at crew and heavy respectively.
Sophomore Grace Squires will skipper A-Division for CofC B with juniors Roxanne Snyder and Julia Jeffries at crew and heavy, respectively. Freshman Fredrikke Foss is expected to skipper B-Division with sophomore Chloe Hudgins at crew and sophomore Rowan Schanley at heavy.
The offshore team has entered two boats in Saturday's Leukemia Cup: Soul and Cougar. Connor Marion will be the driver for Soul with Skye Ehrhart at main, Julianna Corso at primary trim, Megan Fetterley at secondary trim, Hadley Walsh at squirrel, Kate Schmiege at pit, Evan Chenard at mast and Caroline Williams at bow.
Sean Groskoph will be the driver for Cougar with Braden Johnson at main, John McCarthy at primary trim, Emmi Triplett at secondary trim, Kate Herter at squirrel, Maggie Wilcox at pit, Nick Dunphey at mast and Cade Morris at bow.
