Lied, Cougars Lead After Day One at Edisto Island

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. - Othilie Lied holds a two stroke lead in the individual standings after the opening round at the Edisto Island Invitational hosted by the Cougars.
Lied, a junior from Norway, finished the day at 2-under with a 69 round. She recorded back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15 while making par on 14 holes.
"Othilie had an outstanding day in the wind. Overall, we played well, but I think we have a lot of room for improvement over the next two days," said head coach Jamie Futrell.
The No. 25 Cougars also hold a team lead of three strokes over the field at 9-over.
Reigning CAA Golfer of the Week Emma Schimpf is T-4 at 1-over with three birdies in the opening round followed by Smith Knaffle in T-12 at 3-over. Viktoria Hund is T-16 at 4-over while Adrian Anderson and Isabella Britt both played a 6-over round for T-35. Emily Dunlap and Mary Kathryn Talledo round out the Cougar squad at T-67 and T-71, respectfully.
Second round action resumes tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
