CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Jasmin Goei dished out a career-high 54 assists and the trio of Lexi Wierzbicki, Gabi Bailey and Emma Falk combined for 52 kills to lead College of Charleston past North Carolina A&T in a five-set slugfest on Saturday afternoon in TD Arena.

Charleston (13-15, 8-7 CAA) won the match by scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 21-25 and 16-14 after rallying from match point in the fifth set. The Cougars combined for 68 kills, nine aces, six blocks and a .242 hitting percentage compared to 62 kills, seven aces, seven blocks and a .237 clip for North Carolina A&T (9-16, 5-10 CAA).

Critical Point
With North Carolina A&T serving for match point ahead 14-13 in the fifth set, Charleston responded with three straight points – punctuated by an emphatic block from Falk and Logan Pope – to storm back and earn its second five-set win of the season.

Key Cougars

Goei delivered a career performance shattering her previous personal-best in assists by 18 and adding 10 digs to account for her ninth career double-double. She also tallied three kills and a pair of service aces.
Wierzbicki paced the attack with 20 kills, including seven in the second set.
Bailey equaled her personal-best with 18 kills and added 17 digs to record her 21^st career-double.
Falk enjoyed a career day as well establishing a new personal-best with 14 kills on 21 swings.
Tynley Smeltzer surpassed the 20-dig mark for the eighth time in her career with 24.
Pope chipped in nine kills and four blocks while hitting an even .400.

Match Notes

Goei becomes the 13^th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-assist mark in her career. She is also the first Cougar since Allison Beckman in 2018 to dished out at least 50 assists in a single match.
Sophomore Chandler Manusky provided a key spark off the bench with 10 digs and a match-high three service aces.
The Cougars combined for 21 kills on 51 swings in their 25-22 third-set win.
Charleston posted a blistering .406 hitting percentage in the second frame with 16 kills on 32 attempts.
With the win, Charleston is guaranteed at least the sixth seed in the CAA Tournament and can secure the fifth seed with a victory and a Northeastern loss on Sunday.
Saturday's match featured 33 ties and 18 lead changes.
