CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston wraps up a home-and-home series and plays on the road for the first time this season when the Cougars face Tarleton on Friday in Stephenville, Texas. Tipoff at Wisdom Gym is 7 p.m. Eastern time.
The Texas (2-1) won last year's matchup by a score of 69-59 at TD Arena. Arynn Eady led the Cougars (1-1) with 14 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and four blocked shots, and Jenna Annecchiarico had eight steals, the second most in Charleston's Division I history, while adding nine points and eight assists.
This is only the second visit to Texas for the Charleston women's basketball program. The previous trip to the Lone Star State came in December 2016, a 79-63 loss to Houston.
The Cougars dropped a 77-47 decision to Norfolk State on Sunday without the injured Annecchiarico. Jada Logan scored 25 points, one shy of her career high while playing for USC Upstate, and had a team-high six rebounds. Anika McGarity was in double figures with 12 points on four 3-pointers.
The Texans won their first two games before losing at Vanderbilt on Tuesday. Teresa Da Silva leads three players in double figures, averaging 13.7 ppg, followed by Nyajah Mitchels (10.3) and Tyler Jackson (10.0). Elise Turrubiates has a team-best 5.3 rpg, and Mayra Caicedo has dished out 11 assists.
Charleston continues its stretch away from home at Gardner-Webb next Wednesday and at Radford on November 30. The Cougars are back at TD Arena on December 2 against Coastal Carolina.
