
Cougars Host CAA Newcomer North Carolina A&T in New Year's Day Matchup

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston looks to go 2-0 in the CAA for only the second time in 10 seasons when the Cougars host North Carolina A&T on Sunday at 2 p.m. This is the first time the two teams have met in women's basketball.
This is the second time the Cougars are playing on New Year's Day. Charleston lost to Davidson, 58-48, on January 1, 2007.
The Cougars (6-5, 1-0 CAA) opened conference play on Thursday with a come-from behind 53-48 win at Towson. Alexis Andrews and Anika McGarity combined to score all 27 of their points in the second half as Charleston erased a 14-point deficit at the break.
Andrews became the fifth different Cougar to lead the team in scoring this season with her 14 points. She hit 4-of-5 from 3-point range while McGarity went 3-of-5 from long distance and scored 13 points. Jada Logan was the third Cougar in double figures with 12 points and added nine rebounds and three assists.
The Aggies (7-5, 1-0) won their first-ever CAA game with a 67-50 win at home over Elon. Jazmin Harris led A&T with 18 points and 10 rebounds while blocking four shots.
