CofC Men's Golf Set to Tee Off 42nd Schenkel Invitational Friday

The Cougars take on a strong 15-team field in Statesboro
STATESBORO, GEORGIA - The College of Charleston men's golf squad is headed to Statesboro, Ga. this weekend to compete in the 42nd Annual Schenkel Invitational, hosted by Georgia Southern. The tournament will be played from Friday, March 18 to Sunday, March 20 at the Par-72, 7,132-yard Forest Heights Country Club. The field tees off Friday with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
This is Charleston's 9th appearance at Schenkel, finishing ninth in 2021. The field consists of Army, Campbell, Cincinnati, CofC, FGCU, Furman, Georgia Southern, Iowa, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, Notre Dame, UAB, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin, four of which rank in the Top-50 nationally.
The Cougars sit No. 62 nationally, higher than any other CAA team. Charleston's freshman class is ranked No. 1 nationally on Golfstat's freshman class rankings with an average score of 71.28.
The Cougars enter the tournament after a T-7 finish and season-best 35-under at the Puerto Rico Classic last month. Charleston's impressive showing was led by freshman Nevill Ruiter's T-9 finish as he fired a 13-under par.. Ruiter earned CAA Golfer of the Week honors after his career performance.
The Schenkel this weekend features 18 holes on three consecutive days with tee times ranging from 9-11 a.m. ET each day.
