
Charleston Heads to Wilmington for UNCW Tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston beach volleyball team travels to Wilmington, N.C. to take on UNCW and Mercer at the Seahawks' tournament on Saturday before competing in a pairs tournament on Sunday.
Charleston enters the weekend with a 9-5 overall record after going 3-1 at the CofC Classic last Saturday and Sunday with victories against Jacksonville, Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. The Cougars have four pairs with at least seven wins and have won eight of their last nine.
THE OPPONENTS
The Cougars will open the weekend taking on UNCW at 12:00 p.m. and Mercer at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Charleston will then compete in a pairs tournament on Sunday.

THE OPPONENTS
- UNCW carries a 9-3 record on the season and is currently riding a four-match winning streak featuring victories over Eckerd (two), Chattanooga and North Alabama.
- Mercer comes into the weekend with a 2-13 mark and has lost six in a row dating back to a 4-1 setback to Coastal Carolina on Mar. 9. The Bears' lone wins of the season came against Jacksonville and Tusculum in early March.
- Gabi Bailey and Kyra Thompson pace the Cougars with a 10-1 record on the season and have won 10 in a row entering the weekend. The duo has dropped only one set during that stretch.
- Maria Zweig and Emma Falk have yet to lose since first being paired together for the second match of the Battle on the Bay in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Mar. 4 coming into the weekend with an unblemished 9-0 mark.
- Amani Dunston and Ella Reames have won six of their last seven and carry a 7-2 record as partners into Saturday's action.
