
Ruiter Nabs Fourth Top-10 Finish at T-3, Cougs Place T-9 at The Hootie

Ruiter has five consecutive Top-25 finishes this season
CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston Men's Golf battled to a T-9 finish at the 2022 Hootie at Bulls Bay tournament in Awendaw on Tuesday. The Cougars finished 6-under par as a squad with an 858 (289-279-290), beating out Purdue, West Virginia, Iowa State and Furman among others.
CofC's Nevill Ruiter fired a third consecutive round under-par on Tuesday to place T-3 overall with a 9-under 207. Ruiter finished T-3 out of 96 competitors, rising up the leaderboard over the final two rounds.
The Netherlands native snagged the fourth Top-10 individual finish of his freshman campaign and his fifth consecutive Top-25 performance. Ruiter sandwiched a pair of 2-under 70s with a 5-under 67 on Monday. The rookie piled up 15 birdies throughout the week, tied for the third-most in the field.
Fellow freshman Kieron van Wyk fired a 1-under 215 to place T-33 individually. Van Wyk shot a 2-under 70 on Monday in Round 2 to highlight his week. He finished Round 3 in style on Tuesday with three birdies and four pars over his final seven holes.
Senior Jack Parrott scrapped his way to a T-54 finish, responding to an opening-round 75 with a 2-under 70 on Monday and a 73 on Tuesday. Parrott eagled the fourth hole in Round 3 and added three birdies to his ledger over the final 18 holes.
Zach Reuland placed T-64 with back-to-back 72s in Rounds 1 and 2. Reuland made his mark on Par 5s at The Hootie going 5-under on Par 5s throughout the week.
CofC's Ty Sullivan rounded out his week on a high note with a tournament-best 74 in Round 3. He eagled the fourth hole and birdied the 11th hole en route to the 2-over 74. Sullivan placed T-87 individually. Freshman Tim Bertenbreiter placed T-93 with a 4-over 76 in the final round.
