Cougars Begin Evie Odom Invitational Early

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The No. 17/25 College of Charleston women's golf team returns to action today at the Evie Odom Invitational hosted by Old Dominion University. The tournament was originally scheduled to begin Friday, September 30 and run through Sunday, October 2. Due to implications caused by Hurricane Ian, the tournament will now begin today at 1:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. The second round will tentatively begin on Friday morning with the possibility of playing 36.
The Cougars pace the 15-team field with the highest ranking in the current Golfweek rankings and as the only ranked team in the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll.
Emma Schimpf currently sits at 12th in the country in the individual rankings according to Golfweek. The sophomore tied for second at the Cougar Classic with an 8-under 205 against a field that included 14 Power 5 programs. She was awarded CAA Golfer of Week honors for her performance.
Junior Viktoria Hund posted a 4-under 67 in the final round of the Cougar Classic to finish T-13. Sophomore Mary Kathryn Talledo took 51st followed by freshman Adrian Anderson at T-52. Raegan Propes will play in the Cougars' lineup for the first time after finishing her CoC debut in the top 50 at the Cougar Classic at T-39.
CofC finished second at last's Evie Odom Invitational led by Schimpf in sixth.
