NEWARK, DEL. – College of Charleston battled to a 0-0 draw against Delaware on Sunday in the second of a three-match road swing, giving the Cougars three shutouts in their past four games.
The Cougars are 2-3-2 in the CAA and tied for sixth along with Stony Brook and UNCW with eight points. The top six teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the conference tournament.
The Cougars took 11 shots, including eight on target, and limited the Blue Hens to just seven and three on goal. The Charleston attack also produced five corner kicks to only one for Delaware.
"I thought we played well today and certainly created enough chances to win the game but were just unlucky not to get one," said head coach
Christian Michner. "We battled for all 90 minutes and earned a hard-fought point on the road.
"Another shutout feels good, but we have to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net to get all three points."Â
Shea Vidovic led the Cougars with three shots, and
Savannah Barron made three saves to record her third shutout of the season. Kyla Burns preserved the draw for Delaware with eight saves.
The Cougars conclude their road trip with a 6 p.m. match at Northeastern on Thursday.
