
Charleston Picks Up Win in Columbia, Place Seventh at McMillan Cup and Eighth at ACC Final

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston sailing took home another regatta win, this one in SAISA North action taking home the David Van Cleef Memorial Trophy, while the women's team finished eighth in the ACC Final and the offshore team took home seventh at the McMillan Cup.
In Columbia, Charleston posted 25 points for a 16-point win over Clemson as Jonnie Ciffilillo and Aiden Millar posted a perfect 8 in B Division winning all of their rotations. Dillon Garcia and Andrea Melnik posted 17 points in A Division winning five of their eight rotations. B Division's 8 points were a regatta-best while A Division's 17 were good for second-lowest and was the best score in that division.
Charleston placed eighth in the ACC Championship posting 233 points. Emma Tallman and Lucy Klempen posted 107 points in B Division with three podium finishes while Grace Squires, Clara Murphy and Chloe Hudgins posted 126 points in A Division. Squires and Murphy sailed together in the first four rotations before Squires and Hudgins finished the regatta with rotations 5-14.
Charleston's offshore team placed seventh in the McMillan Cup with 42 points and three-way tie for fifth with Rhode Island and NY Maritime. Sunday saw the Cougars post finishes of 2, 2, and 4 for a regatta-best eight points on the second day led by Skipper Miles Wolff and crew members Sean Groskoph, Evan Chenard, Megan Fetterley, Declan Donovan, Hadley Walsh, Luke Tougas and Braden Johnson.
