EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's golf team held on to their day one lead to take the title at the 2023 Edisto Island Invitational. The win is the 37th of head coach Jamie Futrell's career.
The Cougars won by four strokes (+6) over runner-up Georgia Southern.
"This was a great win for us. It was tight all day and we played some of our best golf in the final holes," said Futrell. "This has been a championship team the past couple of years and that experience carried us down the stretch. Great performances by all, but Raegan's 67 was special and Vik continues to impress this fall."
Viktoria Hund played her best round during the final stretch, totaling a 68 on the day to finish 1-under at T3. She posted six birdies during the final round. Raegan Propes tied the best round of the day with a 67 to tie her career low round and finish T9. The sophomore rose 25 spots from her day one finish while totaling five birdies.
Emma Schimpf and Emily Dunlap also placed in the top ten for the Cougars with Schimpf finishing T6 and Dunlap taking eighth. Charleston led the field in total birdies (50), par 4 scoring (4.11) and par 5 scoring (4.78).
The Cougars return for their final fall tournament October 30 in Miami for the Hurricane Invitational.
