CHARLESTON, S.C.- College of Charleston head women's tennis coach Angelo Anastopoulo has announced the signing of Oziera Ahmad and Harper Santos to join the Cougars for the 2024-25 season.
A native of Hampton, New Hampshire, Ahmad will arrive in Charleston as a New England Junior Sectional Champion and a competitor in the USTA Level 2 National Tournament in Midlothian, Virginia. Ahmad is also a junior ambassador for the Advantage Kids, a program which utilizes tennis and yoga to inspire and develop the youth of New Hampshire.
"Oziera is a fierce competitor with a very high tennis knowledge," said head coach Angelo Anastopoulo. "She has been a rising star on the junior tennis circuit and has been testing her game on the pro circuit recently with success. As she continues to gain more strength, we expect her to be a force in the CAA. She will excel in the college team environment."
Santos will join Charleston from Dallas, Texas, where she participated in monthly USTA National tournaments throughout her high school years. Her accolades include two Level 2 National Tournament trophies and a participation in a Level 3 tournament. Her mother was also a college athlete, playing soccer at Texas Tech.
"Harper inherited her mom's athletic ability and can do so many different things on the court," said Anastopoulo. "She was ranked as a top 20 recruit in the nation but was sidelined with an injury. She is fully recovered and returning to that level. Harper is very outgoing and will be a crowd favorite."
